What does music look like?

This is Blitzkrieg Bop

This site uses some pretty cool visualization software to draw patterns that represent a chosen song’s composition as a series of translucent blue arches. It’s interesting to study the variation in patterns created by songs as diverse as Blitzkrieg Bop and Bach’s Goldberg Variations.

Next week at the hi-dive, eleven Lion Sized songs will be visually represented in the form of three dudes sweating and panting (and perhaps bleeding, too) through a 25-minute set. Should be fun.

New practice space

New Lion Sized practice space

We moved our gear down the hall and into our new practice space on Saturday. This is the band’s fourth space in three years. I hope we’ll be able to stay in this one for awhile, as it’s bigger than anywhere we’ve ever practiced before. Number Three did a great job hanging up the Christmas lights. They really set the mood, eh?

We’re working on a new song (working title Ol’ Toasty Chestnuts) and bringing back an oldie for our next show on December 5 at the hi-dive. See you then.

Have a great Turkey Day. Later dudes.

Boo-urns!

This weekend we’re moving our gear down the hall to a larger practice space we’ll be sharing with the Hot IQs … dude, I heard they broke up … no, that was just a rumor, they’re very much still a band and stuff. They even made a video to prove to the world how much of a band they still are. They’re playing a video release for Houndstooth next month at the Bluebird. When I found out about it I yelled “Boo-urns!” because I’ll be in Indiana and therefore unable to make it. Boo-urns!
